Interesting post from LifeHacker:
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Amazon is set to launch a Netflix-like subscription service for books.
The service would reportedly work exactly like Netflix, where you pay a monthly subscription fee to receive a set number of books each month. Since this is a rumor, it’s still not entirely clear how the service will work or how much it will cost.
I’m wondering if this is for print (if so, it sounds like a library service with better availability) or e-books. I’ll certainly be paying attention for more information, even though I don’t have an e-reader at this point.
It’s going to be e-books. As for an e-book reader, Amazon has a Kindle for PC reader that works great through windows. They also launched, recently, a Cloud reader app that also works great via Chrome, Firefox or IE.
