Today is the real start of the college football season. I know there were some games Thursday night, but college football will always be about Saturdays, at least for me. In that spirit, I thought I’d share this video I came across yesterday. While not all athletes accept or embrace their positions as role models, Kirk Cousins from Michigan State does. This video is worth the watch, and should be viewed by all athletes. This guy gets it, in a way that not all athletes do. Whatever he does after college football, he’ll be a success because he understands what life is all about, and surely is taking advantage of the education he is receiving at Michigan State. Take a few minutes to watch, and really listen, to his message at Big 10 media day.

Note: Yes, as a mathematician/statistician, it does strike me as odd that the Big 10 has 12 teams while the Big 12 has 10 (and will likely have only 9 soon)! And yes, I am aware that the Big 10 has has 11 teams since Penn State joined the league years ago. At least the PAC10 had the sense to change its name to the PAC12 when it added two teams.
